Changing technology due to national security threats

Fall is quickly approaching and as we reflect on the last 8 months there have been challenges, along with new opportunities. One item to note is the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has placed Dahua and Hikvision on the list of companies deemed as threats to national security. This has caused alarm and video installers using these products to change technology offerings to ensure compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Dahua and Hikvision are currently working with the FCC to address the NDAA compliance issues. Many camera manufacturers are NDAA compliant and below is a short list of companies that have product available:

  • Avigilon
  • Avycon
  • Axis Communications [4]
  • Bosch
  • FLIR
  • Mobotix
  • OpenEye
  • Paxton

WHIRC provides both video health monitoring and video verification services by connecting either through direct integration or by receiving email alerts. WHIRC continues to support and provide monitoring options as different video platforms become prevalent in the marketplace. We are proactively working with manufacturers to ensure compatibility and support. In August, WHIRC launched our OpenEye integration providing a full monitoring option. We also offer health monitoring of video systems that is much like traditional alarm system notifications. When a signal is received, WHIRC is able to notify the customer when a camera is offline, an NVR loses connection, storage reaches capacity, and much more.

WHIRC is excited to be a custom solution provider for you and your customers!

Meet your account representatives!

Meet your account representatives!

Meet the WHIRC account representatives, Cody and Rick! They are an essential part of our business as they build strong relationships with each and every one of our dealers and customize a monitoring solution specific to their needs. They attend industry events and trainings to discuss options to assist dealers with whatever their individual needs might be.

Rick StevensRick has been with WHIRC for 27 years and enjoys being a part of the team. He keeps in touch with the manufacturers to stay up to date on new products and technology and passes that information on to our dealers.

“Rick does a great job of building relationships and facilitating the needs of the dealers to ensure the best customer service,” said WHIRC Business Manager Ashley Raisanen.

“With the 3G sunset, we continue to help support and inform dealers of what is available and where they are with the process,” Rick said. “We meet with the dealers and prospects in person to work on building and keeping up on our relationships.”

Cody has been with WHIRC for four years and is eager to meet the needs of the dealers and customers we serve. He shares the latest news and offerings with current dealers and is also responsible for looking for new business opportunities along the way.

Cody Decker“Cody brings WHIRC innovative ideas of alarm monitoring,” Raisanen said. “He finds different options to offer new services to our dealers and their customers.”

The best part of the job, Cody says, is that every day is different, and he gets to meet lots of great people!

“I have made many connections through work with people that I now consider friends,” Cody said. “There are so many good people in the security industry with a lot of similarities to myself.”

WHIRC is proud of our account representatives and their commitment to helping our dealers with whatever monitoring solutions they need. Let us know if you are looking at expanding your customers solutions. Contact us at (800) 858-7811.
